Rural Connectivity Improvement Project - Additional Financing (RCIP-AF) is a follow-on project of RCIP to improve the road connectivity between rural communities, productive agricultural areas and socioeconomic centers of different five provinces of Nepal. The project has been in implementation in accordance with the final agreement signed between Government of Nepal and Asian Development Bank (ADB) on 31st October, 2023. For the implementation of the project in provincial level, project reimbursable loan agreement between Government of Nepal, ADB and provincial governments was signed on 31st October, 2023.
RCIP-AF, PIU, Rupandehi is a dedicated project implementing unit of Lumbini Province under the implementing agency, provincial Ministry of Physical Infrastructure Development. Located in Tilottma Municipality -2, Shankarnagar, Rupandehi, the PIU will take overall responsibility for implementing the construction of five road projects in different five districts within the province. Emphasizing on the priorities of the RCIP-AF such as reducing poverty and inequalities, promoting rural development and food security, tackling climate change, building climate and disaster resilience, and enhancing environmental sustainability and strengthening governance and institutional capacity, the PIU will carry out five road projects’ upgradation totaling 68.17 km. of the selected rural roads.
Selected Five Roads for Upgradation by RCIP-AF, PIU, Lumbini Province are as follows:
--Bhagwanpur-Dhakdhai-Khaireni Road, Rupandehi 11.5 km. length,
--Wamitaksar (Indregauda)-Apchaur- Shantipur Road, Gulmi 22.36 km. length,
--Bijauri-Basdabara-Jamuni-Laxmipur-Dakchin Kurhariya-Kanjawar-Kothari Road, Dang 15.58 km. length,
--Riji-Dumla-Nerpa Road, Rolpa12.35 km. length, and
-- Sishaghadi-Jhumlabang-Ransi Road, Rukum East 6.38 km. length.
